Hobby 1

Hobby 1 - Cross-Stitching

A hobby is something that one likes to do for pleasure in ones spare time. I have a number of hobbies which I love to do (sigh...nowadays very hard to find time to just enjoy doing one of my hobbies)..

In this entry I would like to write about one of my hobbies, which is cross-stitching... since I was single, I would spend some of my savings on the cross-stitch materials even though it was quite expensive. I think the last time I did a cross-stitching was 10 years ago!!!

When I was studying in USA, I used to subscribe cross-stitch magazines to get the beautifully designed patterns. Most of my cross-stitch collections are from these magazines: Herbs & Spices and Gardens.
I still have a few designs that I wanted very badly to do but (sigh*) don't know when I will find time again... (maybe tunggu I pencen nanti... tapi at that time mata pun dah rabun...hahaha)

Here are some of my collections that I'm proudly hang on the walls of my home.... (puas hati sungguh tengok hasil kerja tangan sendiri tergantung kat dinding...)

Herbs & Spices

Victorian Garden
Colonial Garden
Country Garden

Flowers
and this hobby is inherited by my daughter Asma' , but i don't think she has the time to do it right now becoz very busy studying.... but I have 2 designs which she made when she was 9 years old! I hang it in my office but wait...I'll take a snap of it and post it later....

To be continued..............( on my next hobby ).

  3. mamamia,
tu semua buat masa lapang aje...It took me 2 years to finish up the "Herbs & Spices"! Memang lama nak siapkan satu2 tu.. All the "gardens", I did it during school holidays(my kids love to 'balik kampung' to their atuk and wan's house, so when they r not around boleh lah mengadap cross-stitch tu)

  6. itu lah...dah lama akak tinggalkan hobi nih sbb tak ada masa. Sometimes bila tgk balik design yg cantik2 tu geram aje...ntah dah berapa ya harga DMC floss sekarang? 10 years ago it was 70cents per floss, I bet now mesti dah lebih RM1.00... and the cross-stitch fabric also quite expensive.. dulu around RM20++ per meter, now tak tahulah...

  8. Salam. I pun suka cross stitch. Dulu la. Tapi rasanya sekarang tak lah kot sebab tak sempat nak spend banyak masa utk tu. Tapi, yang paling nostalgia bagi I ialah I dapat siapkan satu cross stitch, gambar anggur, dalam masa pantang anak kedua. Kata org2 tua, tak elok menjahit waktu dalam pantang tapi I degil. I think mata I ada blur sikit lepas tu. Tapi tak ada-lah sampai kena pakai spek.

kalau boleh computerized cross-stitching tu best jugak kan? tapi kena lah somebody yg invent software tu...so Kak Lady boleh just click...click....click... kat PC aje...hehehe
Herbs & Spices dan Flowers tu pun saiznya besar, kat sini dlm gambar nampak kecik aje... Herbs & Spices (30" X 24") I gantung kat dining hall, Flowers (20" X 36") I kat gantung kat depan tangga.
